Nothing leaves your phone.

Bushwise does not collect, transmit, or store your personal information on any server. Everything stays on your device. This policy explains, in plain language, what that means.

The short version

No account. You don't sign in, and no profile is created for you.
No analytics or tracking. Nothing measures what you do in the app.
No servers. Your maps, markers, tracks and photos are stored only on your device.
No ads, no data sharing, no third-party trackers.

What Bushwise handles, all on your device

Bushwise uses your device's GPS to show your position on your maps and, when you choose to record a track, to save that track. Your location is used and stored only on your device. It is never sent to me or to anyone else.

If you start recording, Bushwise keeps recording while the app is in the background or the screen is off, so your breadcrumb trail is complete for finding your way back. That recording stays on your device.

Maps you import, markers you drop, notes, photos you attach and tracks you record are all stored locally. I have no access to them.

When you choose to share or export a marker or track, that file goes wherever you send it, through your device's own share sheet. That is entirely under your control.

The optional tip jar

Bushwise is free. It includes an optional tip jar so you can support the work if you'd like — it unlocks nothing.

Tips are processed by Apple through the App Store, not by me. I never see your payment details. Apple provides only aggregate sales information, which does not identify you. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

No third parties

Bushwise contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking software. The app makes no network connections to me or to any analytics provider. The only network activity is Apple's own App Store billing, and only if you choose to leave a tip.

Children

Bushwise is a hunting navigation tool intended for licensed adult hunters. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Security

Because your information never leaves your device, there is no server for it to be exposed from. Your data is protected by your device's own security — your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and iOS app sandboxing.

Your rights

Since Bushwise doesn't collect or hold your personal information, there is nothing for me to access, correct or delete on your behalf. Your data lives on your device, and you can remove it at any time by deleting markers, tracks and maps, or by deleting the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top is updated and the new version is posted at this address. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.

What's stored, and where

Location (GPS): Shown on your map and, if you record, saved as a track. On-device only.
Maps you import: GeoPDF and KMZ files kept in the app's own storage. On-device only.
Markers and notes: Names, categories, notes and coordinates you create. On-device only.
Photos: Pictures you attach to a marker. On-device only.
Tracks: Recorded breadcrumb trails and their trace-back lines. On-device only.
Settings: Coordinate format, marker style and alert preferences. On-device only.

Why Bushwise asks for each permission

These are the exact prompts iOS shows you, and what happens if you say no. Bushwise asks for each one at the moment it first needs it — never on launch.

Location — While Using
“Bushwise shows your position on your offline maps while you are out hunting. Your location stays on your device.”
If you say no: Maps still open and everything else works, but there's no position dot.
Location — Always
“Bushwise records your track in the background so you can follow it back out, even with the screen off. Your location stays on your device.”
If you say no: Asked only when you first start recording a track. Refuse it and tracks record only while the app is open on screen.
Camera
“Bushwise lets you attach photos to a marker by taking a picture. Photos stay on your device.”
If you say no: You can still attach photos from your library, or skip photos entirely.
Photo library
“Bushwise lets you attach photos to a marker from your library. Photos stay on your device.”
If you say no: Markers work exactly as normal without photos.

This policy is provided in good faith to reflect how the app actually works; because Bushwise collects no personal information, its handling is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles and, for users abroad, comparable frameworks such as the GDPR.
